Knights Templar honor Clegg for 60-year loyalty

Leland E. Clegg, 93, was honored by the Knights Templar at a recent awards banquet of the York Rite Bodies of Masonry.

Clegg received a service pin and certificate for his 60 years of service to the Masonic Order from Dale Hawkins, eminent commander of St. John’s No. 20 Knights Templar Commandery of Youngstown.

Clegg owns and operates Leland Clegg Insurance Agency. A lifetime member of the community, he attended South High School and joined the Army in 1938. Clegg, a widower, was married 69 years to his wife, Caroline.

He is still involved with many community and civic endeavors, such as the Stambaugh Pillars, Aut Mori Circus, Shriner Hospitals and the Uptown Kiwanis.

Like all Masonic groups, the Knights Templar have their favored philanthropic causes, such as Journeys to the Holy Land and Knights Templar Eye Foundation.
