The Ursuline High School annual open house will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 13.

All academic departments and school organizations will prepare booths and displays for the event. The afternoon will feature performances by the Ursuline High School band, cheerleaders and speech team members.

Tours of the school will be conducted by student council members. Student artwork and a photo montage will be on display. Prospective students may register to win one of three tuition raffles for $2,000 off next year’s tuition.

Financial aid forms for the 2011-12 school year will be available for pick-up at the Financial Aid Booth in the cafeteria.

Refreshments will be provided by the Home and School Association throughout the afternoon.

GED testing set at Choffin Center

Official GED testing sponsored by Youngstown Adult Basic and Literacy Education Program (ABLE) University System of Ohio is set for 8:45 a.m. Feb. 15 and Feb. 16 at Choffin Career and Technical Center.

All participants must be pre-registered and bring photo identification.

Ursuline High School will administer its placement and scholarship test on from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Ursuline Library-Learning Center for all incoming freshmen.

There is no charge for the test.

Students should bring two No. 2 pencils.

To register for the test, parents must call the main office at 330-744-4563 and reserve a place for their child.

Placement in honors courses is based upon successful completion of this entrance exam.

The awarding of certain academic scholarships is based on the test as well.

Free dance lessons for high-schoolers

March Ballroom Madness, free ballroom dance lessons for area high school students sponsored by USA DANCE, will be hosted this year by Boardman High School. Lessons will be March 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Boardman High school has partnered with USA DANCE volunteers to help area high school students learn ballroom dances such as the Cha Cha, Salsa, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Hustle.

Participation is free and participants must be current Mahoning, Columbiana or Trumbull county high school students.

Advance registration is required. Class size is limited to the first 100 couples who mail in their signed registration form.

Registration forms are available at high school offices.

The forms may also be downloaded from the USA Dance Youngstown Warren Chapter 2015 website, www.usadance2015.com.
