Swimmers break school, pool records


Hilary Allen broke a school record in the 400 free with a time of 4:58.20 and finished first in the 200-meter free and Gia Velasquez broke a school record by swimming the 100 breast in 1:19.16 and finished first in the 200-meter individual which helped the girls team defeat Perry 131-52.

Other first-place finishers were Taylor Rodenbaugh, 100-meter backstroke; Mallory Allen, 100-meter fly; Leslie Davis, 100-meter free and Ally Chiu, diving. For the boys, Gavin Trebilcock broke pool and school records by swimming the 200-meter individual medley in 2:11.15, the 50-meter free in 24.24 and the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:07.73. The 200-meter medley relay team of Trebilcock, Ryan O’Malley, Drew Wellham and Daniel Bogen broke a school record with a 1:54.85 finish.

Bogen broke a school record with his 400-meter free with a time of 4:38.69 and O’Malley followed suit with his 100-yard free finish at 55.49. The team finished 124-42 over Perry.

Other first-place finishers were Nick Montalto, 200-meter free; Bogen, 50-meter free; Wellham, 100-meter fly and 100-meter backstroke and Trebilcock, 100-meter breaststroke.

The 400-meter freestyle team of Mark Dalvin, Montalto, Bogen and O’Malley took first along with the 200-meter free relay team of Trebilcock, Dalvin, Montalto and O’Malley.

The 400-meter freestyle relay team of Mallory Allen, Hilary Allen, Leslie Davis and Olivia Williamson took first along with the 200-meter medley relay team of Rodenbaugh, Velasquez, Mallory Allen and Hillary Allen and the 200-meter free relay team of Williamson, Davis, Briana O’Malley, Davis and Velasquez.

Canfield swimmers broke school and pool records during a dual meet Jan. 29 at Massillon Perry.
