Seminar to talk about teen dating abuse
Staff report
WARREN
The parents of Tina Croucher, murdered by her boyfriend and the namesake for an Ohio law enacted in late 2009 called the Tina Croucher Act, will speak at 9 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Warren YWCA, 375 N. Park Ave.
The event continues until noon and includes workshops. The public is invited. Cost is $35 for adults and a $5 donation for high school or college students with an ID.
Croucher was killed in 1992 in her home in Monroe, just north of Cincinnati. The act requires schools to teach students in grades seven through 12 about teenage dating abuse.
The Crouchers will share what they have learned about teen-dating violence since their daughter’s murder.
Also speaking will be victim advocate Johanna Orozco, who was shot in the face by her ex-boyfriend in 2007.
Registration is required by Feb. 18 by visiting www.thetinaproject.org. For information, call 330-929-3382.
