When choosing a theme for the Canfield library’s Fun Time for 4’s and 5’s story time Jan. 25, all children’s librarian Jane Adams had to do was look out her window.
Snow was the appropriate theme she selected.
In keeping with the theme, Adams read such books as “One Mitten,” “A Hat for Minerva Louise,” “In the Snow,” “The Hat” and a pop-up book titled “The Snowmen.” She also used different colored pairs of mittens and asked the children to identify the colors and count with her how many she had.
Adams also led the children in the rhyme “I am a Snowman,” which included hand motions and told a story while drawing on a chalkboard, with the end of the story resulting in a picture of a snowman.
To end the story time, Adams played the song “New Boots” and gave the children the opportunity to dance and jump around to the upbeat music.
In another display of the theme, the children were then invited to make a snowman craft using colorful tissue paper and markers to decorate their creation.
