The new casino scheduled to open in late 2012 in downtown Cincinnati will be named Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati.

Developers including Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert announced the name at a groundbreaking ceremony Friday at the site of the $400 million project.

They say construction should start within weeks and create more than 2,000 construction jobs.

The casino is expected to employ about 1,700.

Caesar’s Entertainment will operate the casino, with Kevin Kline serving as general manager. Kline comes from the Horseshoe Casino Hammond in suburban Chicago.
