Boardman alum earns a spot on Dean’s list

Courtney McCreary of Boardman, daughter of James and Nancy McCreary, was named to the fall 2010 semester Dean’s list at Ashland University.

To be eligible for this honor, students must be enrolled full time and achieve at least a 3.5 GPA. McCreary is majoring in middle grades education.

Valentines With Vets

In what is becoming a tradition for Shepherd of the Valley and Zion Lutheran Church, preschoolers from Zion Lutheran and Veterans who live at Shepherd of the Valley will make Valentine’s Day cards for active duty troops.

The children and veterans will meet at Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon to make the cards. Sponsored by Shepherd of the Valley, the completed Valentines will be delivered to troops overseas.

See familiar faces at the Arms Museum

The Arms Family Museum is featuring a new exhibit titled “Familiar Faces: Memorable Media Personalities” through mid-March. The exhibit features a collection of photographs from WKBN television and radio and WFMJ. Names included in the exhibit include Susie Sidesaddle, Ed Barron, Ted Niemi, Bob Black and Don Guthrie.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior and college students and $2 for children. Learn self-health care

Be entertained on Valentine’s Day

Red Cross offers free blood pressure screenings

The Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross will offer free blood pressure screenings at the Boardman branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County Monday from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
