Youth beaten by group on East Side

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating the beating of a 16-year-old boy by a group of teens who may have been carrying guns.

Police received a call 3:30 p.m. Thursday about a group of teenage boys beating another teenage boy on the East Side. Police checked the area of Sunshine Avenue where the fight was said to have taken place, but did not locate the group of teens or the alleged victim.

A short time later a 46-year-old woman told officers her son had been jumped and beaten by about 20 male youths as he was walking home from East High School. She said one of the boys punched her son in the face with a handgun.

The teenage victim told police he and his friends were robbed a while ago by the same group that attacked him.
