W. Pa. cops plan to step up patrols for Super Bowl
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police in western Pennsylvania say they’re going to be on the lookout for drunk drivers after the Steelers meet the Packers in the Super Bowl.
State police say they’ll triple their normal patrols while local departments also plan to step up their enforcement efforts on Super Bowl Sunday.
Pittsburgh’s public schools have already announced they’ll delay opening on Monday so students don’t have to be out and about at a time when some revelers could still be celebrating.
PennDOT officials say 55 alcohol-related crashes were recorded in the region the last time the Steelers were in the Super Bowl.
