Suspect in Boardman bank robbery to be returned here next week
BOARDMAN — Police say a 39-year-old township man accused of robbing a local bank should be in the custody of Boardman officers Monday.
Brandon Schmitt is accused of taking more than $5,000 from First National Bank at 7025 Market St. on Jan. 13. The bank is just north of U.S. Route 224. Schmitt was arrested at a motel in Moon Township, Pa. by U.S. Marshals and taken to Allegheny County (Pa.) Jail on Jan. 21.
Detectives said today that Schmitt waived his extradition hearing and that Boardman police plan to travel to Allegheny County on Monday to transport Schmitt to the township, where he will appear in court on the robbery charge next week.
