POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Jan. 27

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a residence in the 10 block of West Kline Street through a sliding-glass door, though it was unknown if anything was taken.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 500 block of North Avenue, from which a 55-inch TV was removed.

Criminal mischief: A rear window was broken at a home in the 400 block of Iowa Avenue.

Drugs: Officers responded to a drug overdose in the 1100 block of North Highland Avenue and said they found a spoon with suspected drug residue, possibly heroin.

Jan. 29

Theft: A $250 urn was stolen from a business in the 200 block of South State Street.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 100 block of East Wilson Avenue was found with a broken driver’s-side window.

Arrest: Police responded to an unwanted person in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue, then charged 34-year-old Bryan K. Hallis, 703 Trumbull, with obstructing official business after saying Hallis had provided a false name and Social Security number.

Domestic violence: Kelly L. Landaker, 43, of 620 Washington Ave., Girard, was charged with the crime when, police said, Landaker had shoved a family member during a verbal altercation.

Domestic violence: Police charged 23-year-old Keith P. Brewer, 1070 Patricia Drive, Girard, after his girlfriend alleged Brewer had grabbed her hair, dragged her through their apartment and poured a beverage on her during an argument.

Jan. 30

Assault: A man reported an employee of a North Main Street business forcibly pushed him out during an argument regarding a discrepancy about a bill.

Criminal mischief: A vehicle in the 100 block of North State Street sustained damage to a hood ornament and passenger-side mirror.

Harassment: Two Elruth Court residents reported getting such calls and text messages.

Theft: A South Davis Street woman accused her son of stealing a $250 laptop computer from a bedroom.

HUBBARD

Jan. 26

Burglary: Took place in a garage and residence in the 400 block of South Main Street.

Theft: A surveillance camera caught someone stealing a cell phone in the 100 block of West Liberty Street.

Jan. 27

Theft: A West Liberty Street man reported a cell phone stolen.

Jan. 28

Fraud: A check presented at Hi-Tech Auto, 917 N. Main St., was returned for nonsufficient funds.

Assault: Police received a 911 call regarding a male who had been assaulted at a home in the 800 block of Elmwood Drive.

LIBERTY

Jan. 26

Vandalism: Someone placed a large hole in plastic covering and damaged an automated-teller machine in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue.

Robbery: Bernard Taylor, 46, of 1872 Cordova Ave., Youngstown, faced a robbery charge, accused of fighting with an official of Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, who tried to detain him after a shoplifting situation.

Jan. 27

Arrest: Keith E. Allen, 54, of 66 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on outstanding warrants from Girard Municipal Court charging him with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Arrest: Authorities stopped a car on state Route 193, where they arrested 32-year-old Marcus T. Gordon of Columbus on a charge of failing to appear in court to face a traffic offense.

Theft: The rear license plate was stolen off a vehicle in the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue.

Theft: Someone stole a mailbox from a residence in the 4400 block of Logan Way.

Jan. 28

Drugs: Authorities went to a Belmont Avenue motel to arrest a wanted person and charged 29-year-old Jennifer L. Cupan, 634 Goist Lane, Girard, with several drug offenses after saying hypodermic needles and narcotics were in the room. They also took into custody 28-year-old Nicholas J. Lee, same address, on a warrant.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a home in the 3300 block of Anderson-Morris Road and removed about 150 feet of copper piping from the basement.

Jan. 29

Drugs: A traffic stop on Colonial Drive resulted in 22-year-old Eric T. Kotapish’s arrest on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Kotapish, of 251 Upland Drive, Youngstown, had a suspected marijuana cigarette and suspected marijuana pipe, a report said.

Harassment: An East Park Circle woman reported receiving unwanted voice-mail messages related to a legal case.

Arrest: Margo A. Parsons, 26, of 1299 Waverly Ave., Warren, surrendered to authorities and was booked on a warrant from the township.

Drug paraphernalia: Police stopped 51-year-old Eddie L. Tutwiler Jr., 473 Norwood Ave., Youngstown, who was riding a bicycle on Belmont Avenue and charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia. Several suspected crack pipes were in a change purse, they said.

Jan. 30

Theft: Two women reported money stolen from their purses while performing cleaning services at a home in the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue.

Arrest: Police pulled over a vehicle in the 3200 block of Belmont Avenue and arrested 36-year-old Raheim S. Wright, 603 Liberty Road, Youngstown, on a warrant from the city.

Arrest: Officers responding to a possible break-in at a James Lane residence took into custody 32-year-old George R. Tutoki, 37 Scott Lane, Girard, and Carrie Grossen, 33, of 38 Tuttle Lane, Girard, both of whom were wanted on warrants from Niles.
