Hubbard mayor still mum on reason for chief’s departure

HUBBARD — Sunday will mark one month since Mayor Richard Keenan sent a one-paragraph letter to Police Chief Martin Kanetsky that put him on paid administrative leave pending investigation of charges including insubordination and misuse of city facilities. The letter to Kanetsky was on Jan. 6.

On Friday, the mayor said “no comment” when asked about the status of the investigation. Previously, the mayor said he did not know how long the investigation would take. He has acknowledged the situation is not good for the city.

Former Mayor Art Magee placed Kanetsky on leave for 13 months from August 2005 to September 2006.
