SUV plows into Ind. restaurant, injures 10

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Police in Indiana say an elderly man who apparently confused an accelerator pedal for a brake crashed his SUV through a restaurant wall and injured 10 people during the lunch hour.

Evansville police Officer Karen Kajmowicz said eight people were taken to a hospital today with injuries that don’t appear to be life-threatening. Two others refused treatment at the scene.

Kajmowicz says the person who suffered the worst injuries was trapped under the vehicle. She says an Evansville firefighter who was among those inside the Steak ’N Shake restaurant at the time was able to free that person.
