Motel slaying suspect wants confession tossed


YORK, Pa. (AP) — A man who allegedly strangled a Virginia man inside a central Pennsylvania motel wants his videotaped confession thrown out.

Tracey Raynard Bradley faces murder charges in the May 2009 death of 72-year-old Lee Choppin of Roanoke, Va., inside a York motel. Bradley wants a York County judge to find his statements to police inadmissible because he’d previously asked for a lawyer.

Police say Bradley confessed to the killing, telling officers he had put Choppin in a choke hold to knock him unconscious as part of a robbery. In the statement Bradley said he planned the robbery to feed his family

Prosecutors say Bradley’s statement should be admitted because the interrogating officer advising Bradley of his Miranda rights immediately before the confession.

The hearing was continued until later this month.
