Jeremiah Bullfrogs in Boardman closes

Jeremiah Bullfrogs Bar & Grille at 1315 Boardman-Canfield Road in Boardman closed Sunday after five years in business.

A new franchise, Danny Boy’s Italian Eatery, will open in about two months.

Ross Scianna, owner of Jeremiah and Antone’s Restaurant Group in the Valley, said no one has lost their job in the closing. All employees are working at other franchises Scianna owns.

“The reason we changed is because the concept of Jeremiah Bullfrogs is a great concept, and we love it, but there are so many bars on [U.S. Route] 224 that we wanted to go to a franchise that was more based on food,” Scianna said.

The Austintown location of Jeremiah Bullfrogs will stay open. It has been at 5529 Mahoning Ave. for four years.

Before it was a Jeremiah Bullfrogs, Scianna ran a high-end restaurant called Oscars out of the Boardman location.
