Woman reports attack in downtown Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating the reported beating of a 38-year-old woman on Federal Street downtown.

The woman told police she was walking along Federal Street just after 7 p.m. Tuesday and asked a man if he knew what time the city bus was expected to come.

The man, she said, threw her up against a wall and began punching her in the head. She said the man also threw her to the ground and began kicking her.

She told police the attacker stopped beating her and ran off after a security guard from a nearby building intervened. The woman denied medical attention.
