Police investigate reported fondling

Police are investigating the reported fondling of a South Side woman by a fast-food delivery person.
According to reports, the Craiger Avenue woman ordered food from a Market Street Chinese restaurant Saturday and was prepared to pay for the delivery with a credit card.
Reports say the man asked the woman to get into his car so he could obtain the credit information but then began to “grope” the woman.
The woman told police she ran from the car.

This is a host site for the Angel Food Program now offering boxes from $21 to $41 each. Boxes include meat, vegetables and fruit.
There are no income restrictions or guidelines. Pre-order and pre-pay with cash, debit or credit cards, money orders or Ohio Direction Card. Orders will be taken on the following dates: 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Feb. 10; 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Monday and Feb. 12. Last day to place orders at the host site is Feb. 14 by 12:30 p.m. You may order online at www.cometocrossroads.org.

City school board hires new director

The city school board has hired a director of communications and outreach.
Karen W. Ingraham, who formerly worked as communications director in the Akron schools, was hired by the board. She will earn $68,226 annually.
It’s a new position for the city schools. The communications-director position was cut a few years ago as part of budget reductions.
Roll for a Cure

Poland Relay for Life is teaming up with an Austintown bowling alley for a fundraiser.
Roll for a Cure will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at Mahoning Valley Lanes, 2617 Mahoning Ave. The cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and younger. Ticket price includes three hours of unlimited bowling and shoe rental. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Neighborhood-watch meeting in Liberty

Liberty Township trustees and police department will have the first neighborhood-watch meeting for the southern area of the township, Gypsy Lane to Goldie Road, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.
The purpose is to create an opportunity to get to know those living in your geographical areas, to open up lines of communication with the local police and to have better overall cooperation among residents in crime-prevention efforts.
