YOUNGSTOWN

A Girard man is in custody on a list of charges after a fight where not even officers’ stun guns could make him stop his resistance to police.

Andrew Lippiatt, 18, of Lawrence Avenue, appeared for arraignment Tuesday via video in the courtroom of Judge Elizabeth Kobly of Youngstown Municipal Court.

He is in Mahoning County jail on a combined $14,500 bond.

Lippiatt is charged with assault, resisting arrest, felonious assault and possession of marijuana.

He was arrested late Saturday night on the city’s West Side.

According to police reports, officers were sent to the 100 block of Hazelwood Avenue in reference to a man who looked as if he had been beaten.

Officer Michael Ander-son arrived first and was speaking with the man, Lippiatt, when Officer Assad Chaibi arrived.

According to reports, Lippiatt immediately took a swing at Chaibi. Both officers then rushed Lippiatt and pinned him to the hood of a car.

Officers attempted to handcuff him, but he continued to fight with officers, swinging his one cuffed hand at Chaibi.

Reports say Anderson shot Lippiatt with a Taser, but that had little effect, and he continued to fight with officers.

He ultimately was hit with the stun gun four more times with no effect before more officers arrived and helped subdue him.

Ambulance workers gave Lippiatt a sedative to keep him from fighting with officers and other emergency personnel. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.

Police reportedly found a bag of suspected marijuana on Lippiatt while they struggled to handcuff him.

Lippiatt is due to appear before Judge Kobly again at 10:30 a.m. next Wednesday.
