Federal grand jury indicts Boardman man
CLEVELAND
A federal grand jury has returned a three-count indictment charging Matthew Johnson, 30, of Boardman, with being a felon in possession of a gun and possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and heroin, the U.S. Attorney said.
The first count of the indictment charges Johnson possessed a 9mm handgun on Dec. 10, having been previously convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine in federal court in northern Ohio and of aggravated assault in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
The second and third counts charge that, on the same day, Johnson possessed with intent to distribute about 12.1 grams of crack cocaine and about 1.2 grams of heroin. There are 28 grams in an ounce.
The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by Boardman police and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Youngstown office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Atty. David M. Toepfer.
