Man faces assault charge for punching wife

A township man is charged with felonious assault after reportedly punching his wife unconscious.
Alexander M. Exline, 29, will appear in court today on charges of felony domestic violence, felonious assault and menacing stemming from a Monday-morning incident.
Reports state the woman’s daughter called police around 3:30 a.m. Monday and said she saw her stepfather, Exline, punch her mother five times and carry her upstairs to bed.
Boardman police found the woman unconscious in the house when they arrived and were able to wake her, officers said. During a search, police said Exline began yelling and lunged toward an officer. He was arrested and taken to the county jail. The woman received treatment for head and neck injuries, according to reports.
Girard woman faces drug charges
LIBERTY
Liberty police charged Jennifer Cupan, 29, of the 600 block of Goist Lane, Girard, with possession of drug-abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drugs-heroin after an incident about 9 p.m. Friday at a local motel. Police found two hypodermic needles and other needles, two burned spoons and six pills of methadone. Cupan was taken to Trumbull County Jail.
Man pleads guilty in rape of 5-year-old
YOUNGSTOWN
A Washingtonville man will be sentenced March 11 for the rape of a 5-year-old child. Shawn Unger, 25, of Chris Avenue, entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors Monday whereby he pleaded guilty to one count of rape. He could be sentenced up to 10 years. Prosecutors are recommending a seven-year prison sentence.
