A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Dec. 22
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to enter a residence in the 900 block of West Liberty Street through a rear door.
Fraud: A Moore Street woman learned her stolen store credit card was used to make unauthorized purchases.
Dec. 23
Theft: Police arrested a woman after a shoplifting situation at Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save, 529 N. Main St.
Recovered property: A part to a laptop computer, a computer mouse, two packages of meat and other items were returned to a Hubbard man.
Dec. 24
Bad check: A West Park Avenue woman reported a man gave her a check that was bad.
Dec. 25
Menacing: A Raymond Drive man said another man threatened the accuser as per a temporary-custody agreement.
Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a woman after a Taylor Street man alleged she had tried to choke him with a cable cord and struck him with it.
LIBERTY
Dec. 22
Vehicle theft: A van filled with scrap metal was stolen in the 1300 block of West Montrose Street.
Arrest: Police booked 29-year-old Tisha Hurst, 3016 North Gate Road, Liberty, on a township warrant.
Burglary: A man returned to his apartment in the 1100 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road to discover a 46-inch plasma TV missing.
Theft: Russell J. Hake, 71, of 3441 Hadley Ave., Liberty, was cited on a theft charge after $167 worth of groceries was stolen from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.
Menacing: A Lucretia Drive woman alleged her former husband became angry, struck her kitchen window and threatened to kill her.
Arrest: Tyrell Tate, 27, of 2610 Cordova Ave., Youngstown, was taken into custody on a probation-violation after having been pulled over in the 2800 block of Belmont Avenue. Tate also was cited on a charge of driving under suspension.
Domestic violence: Authorities stopped a vehicle on state Route 193, where they arrested 55-year-old John Covington, 3016 North Gate Road, Liberty. He was wanted on a felony domestic-violence charge from the township.
Dec. 23
Arrest: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail arrested 40-year-old Yolanda R. Winlock, 1392 Victor Ave., Youngstown. She was wanted by township police on charges of obstructing official business and escape.
Theft: A $150 global-positioning-system unit was removed from a vehicle in the 2200 block of East Arms Drive.
Breaking and entering: Police investigated a possible breaking-and-entering crime in the 3000 block of North Gate Road and found the residence devoid of appliances and copper piping.
Criminal damaging: The electric meter was removed from the side of a residence in the 4000 block of Whippoorwell Way.
Dec. 24
Theft: While responding to a shoplifting situation at Dollar General, 4425 Logan Way, police charged Evonne Jackson, 48, of 110 Evergreen St., Youngstown, with theft, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after saying Jackson had stolen $25 worth of merchandise, fled from officers on foot and engaged them in a brief struggle. Jackson also was wanted on a theft warrant.
Arrest: Struthers police apprehended 44-year-old Eric McDowell, 5025 Forest Park Place, Boardman, who was wanted by township authorities on a charge of failure to appear in court.
Theft: Tracy D. Justice, 51, of 4554 Smith-Stewart Road, Vienna, was charged with stealing a pack of socks at Dollar General, 4425 Logan Way.
Aggravated menacing: A Northview Boulevard woman reported a caller threatened to shoot at her home over money owed to a third party.
Arrest: Police responded to an assault in a vehicle in the 6400 block of Klines Drive, then charged 24-year-old Dustin J. Durst, 6448 Klines, with driving under the influence and operating a motor vehicle without reasonable control.
Misuse of a credit card: A Rose Avenue man found out someone had used his check card to make $821 worth of fraudulent purchases in Las Vegas and West Palm Beach, Fla.
Dec. 26
Theft: Video-game equipment, tools and numerous other items were missing from a residence in the 6500 block of Belmont Avenue, for an estimated $3,412 loss.
Arrest: Officers on West Liberty Street picked up 29-year-old Elizabeth M. Graham of Crestview, Fla., who was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue led to 28-year-old Shalonda Farley’s arrest. Farley, of 1488 Rosewood Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on a warrant charging her with recklessly violating a protection order.
Weapon: A charge was pending against a 31-year-old Youngstown security guard after a fellow guard at a Motor Inn Drive motel reported he was carrying a firearm despite not having been authorized to do so. The man also had no concealed-carry permit, police said.
Counterfeit: Two fake $10 bills were passed at Dollar General.
Counterfeit: A man unintentionally used two phony $50 bills to buy groceries at Giant Eagle. The man then used a credit card for the purchase and was not charged with any crime.
Dec. 27
Assault: A 16-year-old boy told officers two women struck him near the entrance to a Goldie Road business.
GIRARD
Dec. 22
Aggravated menacing: Police charged Isaac Jones, 18, of 205 E. Main St., Girard, with aggravated menacing and criminal trespassing after responding to an unwanted person in the 500 block of Park Avenue. A woman alleged Jones came to her apartment despite his having been told repeatedly to stay away, and he left an online message threatening to kill her.
Theft: A $150 bicycle was stolen in the 200 block of Dearborn Street.
Theft: Someone removed a $100 bicycle from a yard in the 100 block of Miller Street.
Dec. 23
Weapon/drugs: A traffic stop near Trumbull Avenue resulted in the arrest of 49-year-old Donn M. Spare, 31 Eleanor Ave., Youngstown, on a charge of being a convicted felon with a firearm as well as on several drug charges. Among items seized were a .38-caliber revolver, a 6-inch knife, a suspected marijuana pipe, two digital scales and pills, police said.
Criminal mischief: A car in the 40 block of East Second Street was found with two broken windows and a damaged driver’s-side mirror. Dec. 25
Burglary: To an apartment in the 30 block of East Broadway Avenue. Stolen was an Xbox 360 system and related accessories and a 32-inch TV, for a $1,050 loss.
Theft: Someone took $70 from an apartment in the 1000 block of Washington Avenue.
