The residents at Glenellen were treated to a journey down memory lane at an Idora Park-themed luncheon Nov. 20. The event was sponsored by Boardman Poland Junior Women’s League as a way of saying thank-you to the residents for allowing the club to hold several of its meetings in their dining hall during the past year.
The residents were greeted by clowns (BPJWL members Debbie Chop and Nina Lowry) and given beaded necklaces to wear during the party. They enjoyed popcorn, taffy, corn dogs, french fries and soft drinks.
Games were played and residents picked prizes of their choice donated by the organization. A movie of Idora Park was shown, and afterward, everyone enjoyed reminiscing about their memories of Idora Park in Youngstown.
One gentleman recalled meeting his wife through another friend on the midway. Many recalled the beautiful ballroom and many weekends spent dancing to the Big Band sounds. Gift bags were given to the residents.
