Director sought for senior center in Austintown

Staff report

Austintown

A permanent director is needed to help oversee daily operations at the newly funded Austintown Senior Center.

The township trustees and the Austintown Generational Enrichment Committee are looking to fill the position after the approval of a 0.5-mill senior-service levy in November.

For several months, township Trustee Lisa Oles volunteered as interim director, but because the center is looking to expand hours, having a permanent director is necessary, said Oles in an e-mail to The Vindicator.

“This center is a special place to me. I’ve formed many friendships here, and I will miss everyone,” she said. “However, the position is very demanding, and we are searching for someone who will write grants and oversee the day-to-day operations.”

The position requires supervising, directing and coordinating a staff, budget development and management, the ability to create and adhere to a financial plan, grant writing, overseeing daily operations, ordering office supplies, daily problem- solving skills, public- relations skills, marketing and advertising and ensuring the space is clean, safe and secure, Oles said.

The position will be part time and no more than 28 hours per week. Hours are flexible, and the position doesn’t offer benefits.

An associate’s degree or equivalent experience in business administration or associated field is required, and a background check will be performed.

Those interested in the position can submit r sum s by Jan. 12 to Austintown Township Trustees, 82 Ohltown Road, Austintown, OH 44515. No phone calls will be accepted.
