YOUNGSTOWN
A 21-point second quarter gave Benedictine (4-2) some breathing room en route to victory. Gary Winston’s 16 points led the Bengals, but Mooney’s Ryan Farragher with 19 points led all scorers. Farragher scored 10 of his points in the third quarter. Junior George Brandenstine added three 3s and two, two-point goals for 13 points for the Cards (1-5).
Ursuline 62, Vermilion 51
EAST LIVERPOOL
Behind 15 points from Ryan Strollo, Ursuline (5-2) cruised to a win in the consolation game of the Potter Holiday Classic. Kevin Jackson grabbed eight rebounds to go with 12 points, as Jalen Lowe added 12 points and Chris Gunther had 10. The Irish out-rebounded Vermilion (1-6) 22-11.
GIRLS
Vincentian Academy 63, Lowellville 56
MONACA, PA.
Ashley Moore and Emily Carlson scored 10 points each for Lowellville, which suffered through 33 percent shooting (18 of 54) in the semifinals of the Penn State Beaver tournament. Moore also had seven rebounds for the Rockets, who trailed 34-32 at halftime. Brenna Wise had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead four Vincentian Academy scorers in double figures.
Windham 59, Jackson-Milton 53
NORTH JACKSON
Windham’s Jessica Ifler led all scorers with 27 points. Paije Kiraly had 14 points for Jackson-Milton, while Katie Santor added 13. Erica Hughes and Maggie Oblinger had 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Bluejays led 33-27 at halftime.
Salem 41, Minerva 38
SALEM
Lindsey Foster had a double-double with 14 rebounds and 10 points, while Tori Jones added 16 points for Salem. Cassie Davidson helped with three assists and three points and Katherine Stiff had 10 points. Lorin Clark had a game high 17 points for Minerva. An 18-point third quarter paced the Quakers’ win.
Western Reserve 56, Mathews 46
VIENNA
Colleen Keenehan and Linley Mamanis scored 14 points leading Western Reserve (7-1). Hannah Mowery added 13 points. Dana Ellis led Mathews (1-7) with 13 points.
Bristol 62, Mineral Ridge 48
BRISTOLVILLE
Allyson Jones netted 24 points and Kylie Stoneman added 12 for Bristol (5-3). Eight other Panthers scored at least two points. Abby Rifee hit four 3-pointers, leading the Rams (1-8) with 24 points.
Howland 49, Kenston 40
TWINSBURG
Erika Nites had 16 points, including eight at the foul line in the fourth quarter to help once-beaten Howland stave off Kenston. Taylor Williams had eight blocked shots and 14 of her team’s 27 rebounds, while Olivia Nicholas had six assists for the Tigers (8-1) in the game at the Fight or Flight Tournament.
