Ruritan group installs 2012 officers

Berlin-Ellsworth Ruritans met Dec. 12 at A La Cart Catering for their annual Christmas party and installation of 2012 officers.
John Bates will serve as president; Jeff Craig, as vice president; Dwain VanAuker, secretary, Ray Schafer, treasurer; and Denny Furman, sergeant at arms.
The board of directors will be Furman, Larry Truitt and Kenny Bennett.
Eleven members of the group received merit awards for perfect attendance: Ivan Hoyle, 33 years; VanAuker, 26; Bennett, 20; Schafer, 19; Bates, 15; Phil Haynali and Craig, 9; Furman, 6; Haven Grittie, 4; Truitt, 2; and Joe Copasso, 1.
Ruritan National has nearly 34,000 members throughout the U.S. that work to improve more than 1,200 local communities. Their slogan is “Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service.” Each group assesses its own community and works to meet local needs.
