AREA EARTHQUAKES

Mahoning County has experienced nine earthquakes with epicenters within the county this year, the first nine ever registered.

1. March 17: magnitude 2.6, near Belmont Avenue and Interstate 680.

2. Aug. 22: 2.2, near Interstate 680 and Four Mile Run Road in Austintown.

3. Aug. 25: 2.4, near Mahoning Avenue/ Raccoon Road in Austintown.

4. Sept. 2: 2.2, near state Route 711 and Interstate 680.

5. Sept. 25: 2.6, near state Route 711 and Interstate 680.

6. Sept. 29: 2.7, near Belmont Avenue and Interstate 680.

7. Oct. 20: 2.2, near Mahoning Avenue and South Belle Vista Avenue.

8. Nov. 25: 2.1, near U.S. Route 422/state Route 711 interchange.

9. Dec. 24: 2.4, near U.S. Route 422 and Gypsy Lane.
