Higher gas prices
COLUMBUS
Here’s an unwelcome holiday arrival for Ohio motorists: higher gas prices.
Pump prices around the state have jumped by more than 15 cents since Monday. Friday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express shows Ohio’s average price for regular gasoline is now about $3.30 a gallon, up from $3.13 at the start of the week.
A year ago, drivers in the state were paying an average $3.02 for regular in the days leading up to Christmas.
With oil prices spending much of the year around $100 per barrel, the retail price of gasoline has hit its highest annual average ever. Motorists nationwide have paid $3.52 per gallon, on average, throughout 2011.

WASHINGTON
Consumers spent at a lackluster rate in November as their incomes barely grew, suggesting that Americans may struggle to keep spending more into 2012.
Consumer spending rose just 0.1 percent in November, matching the modest October increase, the Commerce Department reported Friday.
