Canfield swimmers sweep Beaver Local at YSU


The Canfield boys and girls swim teams swept Beaver Local Dec. 14 during a meet at YSU. The girls earned a 130-49 victory, while the boys won 133-36.

Sarah Heaven sparked the win by taking first in the 100-yard free and 200-yard free. Heaven, along with Kerra Loomis, Briana O’Malley and Leslie Davis took first in the 200-yard free relay.

Mallory Allen placed first in the 50-yard free and the 100-yard fly. Allen was also part of the 400-yard freestyle relay that included Davis, Olivia Williamson and Heaven that took first.

Williamson won the 100-yard breaststroke, as well as the 200-yard individual medley.

Davis won the 500-yard free and Jamie Wellham won the 100-yard backstroke.

Winning the 200-yard medley relay was the team of Wellham, Williamson, Allen and Davis. Ally Chiu took first in the diving portion of the competition.

Drew Bennett led the boys team with victories in the 200-yard free and the 500-yard free. Nicky Montalto won the 50-yard free and the 100- yard free. Connor Brady placed first in the 100-yard fly and the 100-yard backstroke.

Daniel Bogen took first in the 200-yard individual medley and Chris Wilkins won the 100-yard breaststroke.

Brady, Jake Smith, Adam Weiss and Mark Dalvin won the 200-yard medley relay. Placing first in the 200-yard free relay and the 400-yard free relay was the quartet of Bogen, Michael DiDomenico, Dalvin and Montalto.
