BGMS downs Youngstown Christian

Boardman Glenwood’s eighth-grade boys basketball team defeated Youngstown Christian 52-14. Jamison Lytle paced the balanced scoring attack with eight points, while Preston Stitt and Devon Curd added seven a piece and Gavin Dill had six. The Spartans held Youngstown Christian to six total points in the second half with team defense led by Drew Wagner. The seventh-grade boys team defeated Youngstown Christian 51-44. Leading the Spartans offense were Mark Smaldino with nine points, Nick Augustine with eight and Gavin Strines with seven. Other scorers included Dante Colaluca (6), Bryce Richey (6), Nick Stamp (6), Shawn Birchfield (4) J.R. Ryan (4) and Anthony Davanzo (2).

BGMS boys defeat South Range

Boardman Glenwood’s eighth-grade boys basketball team defeated South Range 55-19. Leading the offensive attack for the Spartans were Tim Captain with 23 points, Gavin Dill and Preston Stitt with 11 each and Devon Curd with 10.

The seventh-grade boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season as they defeated South Range 40-25.

The Spartans offense was led by J.R. Ryan with 12 points, Mark Smaldino with nine points and Bryce Richey with eight.

Glenwood defeats Youngstown Christian

Boardman Glenwood’s eighth-grade basketball team defeated Youngstown Christian 37-19. Krista Johnson led with 12 points, seven rebounds and seven steals. Kate Platt added 10 points and Marissa Hanna had eight. Natalie Wilson, Elli Hritz and Amanda Bowman added two each, while Rickasia Wallace chipped in a free throw.

The seventh-grade girls beat Youngstown Christian 24-11. Leading scorers in the contest were Aniyah Spann with 15 points, Lauren Pavlansky with seven and Charlotte Voytko with two. Solid rebounding helped the Spartans pull ahead. Contributing the rebounds were Faith Clear, Taylor Halowell, Aliaina Hufnagel, Alexis Stutz with two each and Maryssa Wagner with four.

Glenwood falls to Range

Boardman Glenwood’s eighth-grade basketball team lost to South Rang 23-41. The Spartans were led by Natalie Wilson and Krista Johnson with 10 pointed each.

Boardman JV girls lose

The Boardman junior varsity girls basketball team fell to Federal League rival Canton McKinley 35-33 on Dec. 15. The Spartans took an early lead with the help of Amanda Lipke’s eight-point first quarter. Mollie Donnelly handled the pressure and added five points. Kennedy Kesner added seven, while Chaise Perez made the only 3-pointer of the game.

Glenwood girls beat Center

Boardman Glenwood’s eighth-grade girls basketball team defeated Boardman Center 32-21. After trailing at the end of the first quarter, the girls stormed back to win the last three quarters to seal the victory. Strong defense by Marissa Hanna and Katie Platt helped pull the ladies to a 3 and 1 record on the year. Krista Johnson and Natalie Wilson led the scoring with 13 points and eight points respectively. Also contributing to the scoring was Hanna, Platt, Baily Brandt and Elli Hritz. The Boardman Glenwood’s seventh-grade girls basketball team defeated Boardman Center 34-14. Leading scorers were Aniyuh Spann with 14 points, Lauren Pavlansky with eight, Maryssa Wagner with four and Faith Clear with four. Alaina Hufnagel and Charlotte Voytko each scored two points.

Strong defense from Taylor Halowell, Alexis Stutz and Wagner contributed to the win.

Glenwood boys beat Center

Boardman Glenwood’s eighth-grade boys were victorious over Center by a final of 48-41. Leading scorer for the Spartans was Preston Stitt with 20 points, while six others contributed points.

Defensive efforts were led by Gavin Dill and Jamison Lytle.

The Boardman Glenwood’s seventh-grade basketball team lost to Center 38-35. Leading the offense for the Spartans was JR. Ryan with 18 points, Mark Smaldino with eight points, Sean Birchfield with four, Bryce Richey with three and Nick Stamp with two points.
