What are politicians good for?

Let me state this to Ryan, Betras, Hagan, etc. — the ones who regurgitate their leftist illogical ideology that the rich aren’t paying their fair share. Taxpayers don’t create deficits, politicians do. No matter how much these legislators receive, they spend more, much more, having us mired in deficits for decades on end.

Here’s a quick litany of taxes: gas (state and federal), property, inheritance, wages (state, local, federal, F.I.C.A.) beverage, vehicle, hotel, sales (county and state), cigarette, hunting and fishing, along with levy after levy crammed down our throats through special elections.

All politicians are “good” for is inventing ways to tax and regulate the citizenry, and writing law after law against the citizenry. I don’t have one iota of fear about Wall Street, (the Democrats’ Great Satan) but by God, I fear government and what they do and intend on doing.

Chaney concert was eye-opener

My wife and I will cele- brate our 17th wedding anniversary in April. I can remember one of our most important discussions was where we were going to send our children to school. We made the choice that each of our three daughters (as they came along) would attend private schools. When tuition became an issue for our youngest two, we opted for open enrollment in another system, which has been working very well.

Recently, I was invited by my sister to attend the Winter Concert at Chaney VPA, where my youngest nephew attends and would be part of the stage crew. As a music business professional here in the city, to say I was blown away by the students’ professionalism, emotion and sheer talent would do little to explain the excitement I felt throughout the evening. Every single performance from dance, to drama to choral and solo selections were presented with a level of acumen and taste that I’ve spent far more money to see (and enjoyed less).

I have nothing but major kudos for Superintendent Connie Hathorn; Tracy Schuler Vivo, the VPA Coordinator of the Chaney Visual and Performing Art Program, and the entire staff, team and administration responsible for thinking “outside of the box” and reminding us all that hope is back for our Youngstown school system.
