ASG members celebrate the holiday and 20th anniversary

Members and guests of the Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild attended a holiday party and election of officers Dec. 3 at Ciminero’s Banquet Center.

The event was organized by Virginia Hardman.

In honor of the guild’s 20th anniversary, several founding members were in attendance. They were Barbara Springer, Peg Viole, Carol Lewis, Pat Mount, Elfreda Bacon, Kathie Kleese Doman and Inez Penick

Doman gave a demonstration on making a poncho.

Winners of the 2011 Sewing Challenge who received gift certificates for future guild events were Theresa Campbell, first place; Springer, second place; and Diane Jones, third place.

The following were elected to serve the 2012 term: Barbara Tryon, president; Marion Gibson, first vice president; Jennie Roberts, second vice president; Lynn Price, treasurer; and Diane Wittik, secretary.

Jennie Roberts, past president, was chosen 2011 Member of the Year. Roberts also has served as neighborhood group leader, librarian, treasurer and member-at-large.
