Wabash 63, Baldwin-Wallace 61
LEXINGTON, KY.
Sophomore guard Grant Fairhurst scored a season and game-high 20 points but the Baldwin-Wallace College men’s basketball fell to No. 14-ranked Wabash College, 63-61, in the first game of the Transylvania University Don Lane Tournament. Baldwin-Wallace is 1-1 versus top 25-ranked teams. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets (6-3) will play the loser of the Hendrix (Ark.) College-Transylvania game in the consolation game today. The Little Giants (9-0) and will play in the championship game. Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Kyle Payne scored 12 points and junior guard Ben Umbel (Poland) added 10 points and grabbed a game-high tying seven rebounds. Wabash was led by senior forward Nick Curosh with 11 points and senior guard Aaron Zinnerman contributed 10.
WOMEN
Mount Union 65, Drew 33
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.
The Purple Raiders (10-1) opened the game on a 19-0 run for their fifth-straight win. Mount Union has won 23-straight non-conference games dating to the 2008-09 season. Rosa LaMattina led Mount Union with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor. Drew (4-6) lost its third straight game and got eight points from Victoria Ault.
