Ohio Turnpike tolls rise Jan. 1

BEREA First the speed limit, now the toll rates.

The Ohio Turnpike announced Tuesday that toll rates will increase beginning Jan. 1.

Under the new rates, the cost to travel the entire 241-mile turnpike, from Indiana to Pennsylvania, will cost $16.50 for two-axle passenger vehicles, up from $15.

That cost will be $11.25 with an E-ZPass, up from $10.25.

Those with shorter commutes, like from Akron to Strongsville, won’t see an increase in rates.

The turnpike in April increased the speed limit from 65 to 70 miles per hour.
