BOARDMAN

A man and woman will be in Mahoning County Area Court here today, accused of receiving stolen property.

Police charged Michele D. Santiago, 41, of Youngstown, with receiving stolen property about 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Barnes & Noble in The Shops at Boardman Park.

Bruce Dee Lynn Hasley, 56, of Youngstown, is charged with receiving stolen property and criminal tools and given a citation for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, police said.

A Barnes & Noble manager called police when Santiago tried to return stolen merchandise, reports stated. The manager said a customer called and told her his vehicle was broken into and a bag of books with the receipt was taken, police said.

The manager printed the man’s receipt and realized it matched the receipt Santiago was using, police said.

Santiago told officers that Hasley drove her and was in the parking lot, records state. When police found Hasley, they saw he had a suspended driver’s license and found a Blu-ray player in the trunk, the same make and model of one stolen from a vehicle elsewhere in the township, reports state.

Police also found screw drivers and gloves in the car. Detective Glenn Patton said Hasley “has been a suspect for the past couple years and the investigation is ongoing.”
