Gas prices fall in Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN

Ohio motorists have an early holiday gift at the gas pump: prices that are down 15 cents from last week.

A survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express puts the statewide average price for regular gasoline at $3.13 a gallon, compared to about $3.28 last Monday.

Regular is now more than $1 below Ohio’s all-time high of $4.16 per gallon reached back in May, but still costs 19 cents more than it did last year at this time.

In the Mahoning Valley, gas is slightly above the statewide average at $3.15 a gallon. That’s down about 8 cents from last week.

The price of gasoline has been going down in sync with oil prices. Crude has fallen from above $100 earlier this month on growing fears that a debt crisis in Europe will trigger a recession there that will weaken global demand for fuel.
