DEPLOYments

To Afghanistan

Army Maj. Joseph C. Richey, son of John and Elvera Richey of Austintown, recently was deployed to Afghanistan for a year.

Richey graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1992 and received a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. Bonaventure University, N.Y. He and his wife, Allison, and two sons, Carter and Collin, live in Fort Lewis, Wash.

Finished in Qatar

Two area sailors recently completed a six-month deployment operating from bases in Qatar, Bahrain and Djibouti as members of Patrol Squadron 10 “Red Lancers” (VP-10), Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla.

The sailors are: Lt. j. g. Sean P. Kearney, who joined the Navy in 2007 and is a 2002 graduate of Farrell Area High School, Farrell, Pa.; and Petty Officer 2nd Class Shane C. Gray, a 2005 graduate of Jefferson High School, Jefferson, Ohio, who joined the Navy in 2005.
