YOUNGSTOWN

A Smart Money piggy bank will be given to the first 100 children entering the OH WOW! children’s museum at 11 W. Federal St. today.

The piggy banks are being provided by the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, which is the museum’s partner in a financial literacy education exhibit that opened Friday at the museum.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Admission is $7 per person for children and adults, with children under 2 admitted free.

The exhibit, comprised of three Fun Finance Stations developed by the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum of Milwaukee, will be at the Youngstown museum for several weeks before traveling to Mahoning County public libraries and other agencies.

The exhibit features a “Cravings and Savings” station designed to show how it pays to save money regularly. A spin of the wheel directs the child to add to savings or give in to something they want to buy.

The “Every Last Cent” station is a money-stacking game in which children choose how to spend their money.

The “Money Memory” station is a puzzle that teaches children to identify and match U.S. coins and currency.
