A pedestrian was struck after he walked in front of a car on Wilson Avenue, police said.

An ambulance took Jimmy Ceballos, 52, of Wilson Avenue, Youngstown, to St. Elizabeth Health Center after the accident at 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said. He was not admitted to the hospital, the hospital said Thursday.

Police said the accident happened when Kenneth R. Dunn, 72, of Hyatt Avenue, Campbell, was driving his SUV east on Wilson by the Speed Check convenience store.

Ceballos stepped in front of Dunn’s vehicle, according to the police report. Dunn, who was traveling 30 mph on the wet road, swerved to miss him but struck him with the left front section of the SUV.

Dunn said Thursday that after the accident, bystanders helped Ceballos up and he sat on some milk crates in the parking lot of the store. His head was bleeding. He said he did not want to go to the hospital but eventually was persuaded to do so, Dunn said.
