Pa. state police investigating shootings in Union Township


NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Two people were shot and another was pistol-whipped during a home invasion in Union Township, state police said.

The home invasion occurred in two apartments at a duplex on Sunny Avenue at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The shooting victims, Brent Thomas Bissett, 20, and Corey Johnathan Coblentz, 18, both of High Street in New Castle, were taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh in critical condition. The victim who was pistol-whipped is 17, and police did not release his name. He was treated by an ambulance crew.

Trooper Herbert Rieger said today there were no arrests yet in the case.
