Poland trustees promote worker

POLAND

Township trustees promoted a part time road employee this week to replace an employee who retired.

Raymond Beatty, who has worked part-time for the department for two years, was promoted to a full-time road employee and will earn $10 per hour and receive full benefits, trustees said.

Trustees Robert J. Lidle Jr. and Mark Naples recognized Trustee Annette Jeswald-DiVito for her years of public service. DiVito was appointed trustee in 1999, won re-election and continued serving until 2011, when she lost to challenger Eric Ungaro.

Tuesday was DiVito’s last meeting as a trustee.

“It’s somewhat of a sad day here at Poland Township. ... The township is by far a better place” because of DiVito’s service, Lidle said.

Naples praised DiVito for being a mediating force on the board and for serving without agenda.

“I’m not big on speeches, but I’m really going to miss it here,” DiVito said.

Ungaro will be sworn in Dec. 27.
