Hanoverton boy attacked by dog

NEWTON FALLS

A nearly 3-year-old Hanoverton boy suffered cuts to his face and forehead from a dog attack here Tuesday. The boy and his parents had gone to a house at 5213 state Route 5, just west of state Route 534, to visit a friend. The boy was playing in the living room alone when the attack took place at 10:46 a.m., according to the Trumbull County Sheriff’s office.

The homeowner and the child’s parents heard a commotion and found the boy on his back after the attack. A county dog warden arrived and took possession of the dog. The boy was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital.

Woman pleads insanity in rape

WARREN

Felicia Beemer, 21, accused of raping her 9-month-old daughter while visiting her at the Trumbull County Children Services offices on Reeves Road in April, has pleaded innocent by reason of insanity.

She was arraigned Wednesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court oncharges of rape, and pandering obscenity involving a minor and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

Her husband, Cody A. Beemer, 23, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to similar charges earlier. Both will be psychologically evaluated, and each faces the possibility of a life prison sentence if convicted.

Pleads guilty

WARREN

A 20-year-old Howland woman has pleaded guilty to arson for setting a fire at a house on Orchard Avenue in Howland on Aug. 28, 2010.

Kaitlyn A. Mullins entered the plea Wednesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. She will be sentenced by Judge W. Wyatt McKay in about five weeks. The fire destroyed the home, causing $53,000 in damage. Mullins also suffered severe burns.

Bird count planned

YOUNGSTOWN

The Audubon Society/Mahoning Valley sponsors the 106th Christmas Bird Count for the Youngstown Area for the National Audubon Society on Saturday. The society is looking for volunteers to watch their bird feeders if they live within 7 1/2 miles from the intersection of Lockwood Boulevard and Shields Road in Boardman. Also needed are people to walk or drive within the area, which will be assigned by society members.

Help sought to find missing man, 67

VIENNA

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for Robert Myers, 67, of Wren Drive in Fowler Township, who disappeared Sunday. Myers, who has vision problems, dementia and trouble walking, has a blue 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser with license plate DTN 8656. Anyone who has seen him should call 330-675-2730.
