Police work out break-in case

Staff report

WARREN

Police pieced together suspicious circumstances with information from a suspect’s girlfriend to conclude that two Tod Avenue Southwest men committed felony offenses early Saturday.

David A. Myers, 31, and Alfred Milender, 39, pleaded innocent Monday in Warren Municipal Court to attempt to commit an offense and possessing criminal tools after police noticed them walking on Bradford Street near Estabrook Avenue Northwest at 1 a.m.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of Estabrook for an attempted break-in.

Officers learned someone had tried to break in through a sliding-glass door and then a another door on the garage.

Both attempts were unsuccessful.

While questioning Milender and Myers, Milender’s fianc e called police, saying she had heard that Milender had been arrested and wanted to know where the car was that he was using because it belonged to her.

After obtaining a description of the car, police located it in a driveway on Bradford Street and discovered power tools, a laptop, tool box and a tire iron inside.

Police also found a shoeprint in the mud about a yard away from the house that had been broken into, and it matched the shoes Milender was wearing, police said. Milender’s shoes were taken as evidence.

Milender is in Trumbull County jail without eligibility to make bond.

Bond for Myers was set at $10,000.
