Ohio waitress accused of beefing up tips
PERKINS, Ohio (AP) — Police in northern Ohio say a waitress at a Chili’s restaurant gave herself fatter tips by doctoring customers’ debit card receipts.
Twenty-five-year-old Kelli Sharpe, of Sandusky, was charged Tuesday with forgery, theft and credit misuse.
According to the Sandusky Register, a police report says the restaurant’s owner found 64 receipts had been inflated, for a total of $210.
Restaurant managers were tipped off by an angry customer who noticed a Chili’s transaction on his bank statement was higher than the approved bill.
Police say a corporate investigator arranged a dinner date Monday and asked to sit in Sharpe’s section. The report says managers later discovered his tip was doubled.
