Local ice skating club wraps up a busy year

YOUNGSTOWN

The Skating Club of Greater Youngstown recently took two first-place wins at competitions in Columbus and Findlay, Ohio. The events were part of the District 7 Series formed by the Ice Skating Institute and include participating rinks throughout the state.

The next major event will be hosted by the SCGY Jan. 21-22 at the Covelli Center.

The club will sponsor a “Skate with Santa” party from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Hess Ice Rink in New Castle, Pa. The event is open to the public, and admission is $10, which includes skate rental, free lessons, refreshments and pictures with Santa.
