FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $6.50 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

Woodworth Church of the Brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will sell takeout meatloaf dinners from 3:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $7, and the meal includes scalloped potatoes, green beans and a cookie. To place orders drive up to the back door of the church. For more information call 330-501-2104.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi, while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-746-9528, and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot Lunches will not be available at this time. This will be the final sale of the year.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance. Dec. 16 will be the final sale of the year.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Frozen pirogi will be sold while supplies last. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available. This is the last sale of the season.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $4.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. This will be the final sale of the year. Sales will resume Jan. 6.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi for takeout only; there will be no hot lunches served. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. Orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability.

VFW Post 9571, 11397 Ellsworth Road, Ellsworth, will have an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Also available will be four-piece chicken, chicken fingers, or shrimp with french fries or macaroni and cheese. The cost is $7.50 for adults and $7 for seniors.

SATURDAY

American Legion Post 751 and Southington Community Park volunteers are sponsoring an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with Santa Claus from 8 a.m. to noon at the post home, 3145 Warren-Burton Road, Southington. There also will be sausage or biscuits and gravy. Donations are $6.50 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Springfield Boys Basketball Parents are having a cookie walk and basket auction from 10 a.m. to noon (or until sold out) at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main Street, New Middletown. Fill a box with homemade cookies for $15 or pick up a premade tray for $20. The basket auction will feature many local merchants.

St. John Orthodox Church, 301 Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell, will sell the following from noon to 2 p.m. in the church hall: assorted cookies for $5 per dozen or $15 or $25 for trays; kolachi for $9 each for apricot, cheese, lekvar, nut and poppy seed; apple, cheese or cherry frozen strudel are $9 each; pagachi with potato/cheese filling for $6 each; and wedding or mushroom soup for $6 per quart. St. Patrick Home and School will have its annual cookie walk today and Sunday at the parish center on North Main Street in Hubbard. The sale will follow the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday and the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Masses on Sunday. There will be homemade cookies, candies, kolachi and bread. Containers will be provided, and mix-and-match selections are allowed. The cost is $4.50 per pound.

SUNDAY

Auxiliary of VFW Triangle Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will offer a homestyle breakfast with Santa from 8 a. m. to noon. The menu includes eggs, sausage or ham, hash browns, pancakes or freedom toast, toast, and coffee or tea. Meals are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Fowler Fire Department will sponsor its monthly pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire station, state Route 193. The prices are seniors, $5; adults, $6; children, $4; and free for preschoolers.

TAKING ORDERS

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 159 Reed Ave. Campbell, will sell homemade haluski to be picked up from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 23 at the church hall. The donation is $5 a quart. To order call 330-755-0036 or 330-755-4141 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Dec. 21.

Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, is taking orders for strudel to be picked up Saturday. Orders can be placed through Thursday at 330-792-6699 or 330-799-7911. The cost is $8 for large apple or cherry and $9 for large cherry with cheese. All proceeds will benefit mission orphanages.
