Canfield Township plans to replace street signs
Staff report
Canfield
The township will replace all street signs over the next several years.
Before the end of 2011, township workers will begin replacing old street signs with new state-regulated ones that are retro-reflective, said Trustee Marie Cartwright during Tuesday regular’s board meeting. Reflective materials make them easier to see and read at night.
Cartwright said good winter weather so far will allow workers to install the signs quickly if they begin now.
Signs for the township’s first two quadrants will cost $5,411. The installation will continue over the course of the next few years until each quadrant is complete.
Fiscal Officer Carmen Heasley also thanked Trustee Martha Zarlenga for her service to the board over the past two years.
Zarlenga was elected to a two-year unexpired term that began in 2010. She was defeated in November by Atty. Steve Maszczak, who will take office in January.
“Thank you Carmen, and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to finish everything I started while in office,” Zarlenga said.
