Budget vote moved
YOUNGSTOWN
Mahoning County commissioners have agreed to defer their vote on the county’s 2012 budget from this week to Dec. 22, John A. McNally IV, chairman of the commissioners, confirmed Tuesday.
Budget Director Barbara J. Sours said she had asked the commissioners to defer for one week the adoption of next year’s budget beyond the Thursday target date she and McNally previously had announced.
“We are very close to being done, but I would like the extra week to review everything and make sure that I haven’t missed anything. We will definitely adopt on the 22nd,” Sours wrote in an email to The Vindicator.
Investigating rape
LAKE MILTON
Milton Township Police continue investigating an 18-year-old Canfield woman’s accusation that she was raped Nov. 14 by a 17-year-old Austintown boy she knew in a commercial garage on Mahoning Avenue in Milton Township.
Police got warrants to search the scene of the alleged rape, the suspect’s residence, and to get a DNA sample from the suspect, said Lt. Jeffrey J. Lewis. Police have not yet received the DNA test results, and the boy has not been arrested, but possible charges have been referred to the Mahoning County Juvenile Court prosecutor, Lewis said.
Police took from the boy’s residence the clothing he wore that night; and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation agents took samples from the couch where the alleged rape occurred, Lewis said.
