Film investigates diet-cancer link

“The Beautiful Truth,” a film by Steve Kroschel, will be screened at 7 p.m. Wednesday at The Lemon Grove, 122 W. Federal St. “The Beautiful Truth” is about one man’s investigation of the theory that there is a link between diet and a cure for cancer. The film is sponsored by Time Bank Mahoning Watershed and The Lemon Grove Film Club. A short discussion will follow. Admission is free but contributions will be accepted.

Music at Madison Christmas cabaret

‘Anything Goes’ to launch tour

NEW YORK

The Tony Award-winning shipboard musical “Anything Goes” will be hitting the road. Roundabout Theatre Company said Monday a national tour of the Cole Porter show will steam through more than 25 cities starting next October in Cleveland.

The silly musical about a crazy group of people who find themselves on a ship crossing the Atlantic features most of Porter’s best songs, including “You’re the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” and “Anything Goes.”

Finalists announced for young writers

Five debut novels are finalists for the American Library Association’s William C. Morris award for young adult writers who have never published before.

The nominees were announced Monday. They include Rae Carson’s “Girl of Fire and Thorns,” Jenny Hubbard’s “Paper Covers Rock,” Guadalupe Garcia McCall’s “Under the Mesquite,” Ruta Sepetys’ “Between Shades of Gray” and John Corey Whaley’s “Where Things Come Back.” The winner will be announced Jan. 23. There is no cash prize.
