Students criticize Ohio school for bedbug response

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Students complain that administrators didn’t go far enough when an Ohio high school found bedbugs.

The Springfield News-Sun reports some students were sent home with a note last week when the bloodsucking pests were reported in one classroom.

Students interviewed by the newspaper say they think all households should be informed whenever bedbugs turn up at school. The teens said they’re concerned because the insects can spread quickly.

School district Superintendent David Estrop says he doesn’t think the school needs to notify all 1,800 students and their families every time a bedbug is found. The affected areas are cleaned and treated with pesticide, if necessary.
