Pa. suspect asks cop: 'Can I have my weed back?'

BEAVER, Pa. (AP) — A defense attorney was arguing that a bag of marijuana that fell on the ground during a western Pennsylvania traffic stop could have belonged to one of three other men in the car with his client that night.

Until the officer testified Monday that 19-year-old Devonte Davon Jeter asked him a question: “Can I have my weed back?”

Jeter was one of four men in a car stopped by Midland police on May 13.

Assistant District Attorney Kevin Kindred argued to the judge, “I don’t know what else ‘Can I have my weed back?’ can mean, other than it’s his.”

The Beaver County Times reports a district judge agreed with the prosecutor, and ordered Jeter to stand trial on marijuana possession charges after that testimony.
